Design Your Legacy Recap: The Hustle Legacy’s First In-Person Event
The Hustle Legacy is built on the belief that Self Discovery flourishes within a supportive community. The connections we make with others, the shared experiences, and the courage to explore our creative sides are the keys to fully understanding ourselves. This philosophy was the driving force behind our first in-person event, a collaboration with Kat Herrick, founder of Design Your Interior.
Collaborating with Design Your Legacy
The event's origins were as serendipitous as they were inspiring. Kat and I have been friends since college, witnessing the births of each of our brands. We were planning to do a fun little content shoot for our next hangout. Yet, reminiscing on the good old days, back when we were forging friendships over group photo shoots, we became inspired to transform our original plans into an opportunity to connect local creatives and foster a safe space for exploration and content creation.
This vision perfectly aligned with both of our brands' core values. We both believe that Self Discovery thrives when we step outside of our comfort zones, connect with like-minded individuals, and embrace the power of community. This event seemed like the perfect chance to reignite our partnership.
A Content Shoot for Connection
The event unfolded like a perfectly-scripted adventure. Our day began with a casual picnic in the park, a low-key approach that fostered a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. As guests arrived, the energy became infectious. Laughter filled the air as we introduced ourselves, exchanged creative pursuits, and reveled in the excitement of new connections.
Fueled by fresh pastries and vibrant conversation, we ventured into the charming streets of Old Town, Alexandria. Armed with our cameras and a shared sense of curiosity, we embarked on a creative photoshoot. The picturesque scenery became our canvas, and our outfits, an extension of our bold personalities. Each click of the shutter captured not just a beautiful image, but a moment of shared vulnerability and creative expression.
Fostering Self Discovery Beyond the Pictures
More than the captivating photos, however, was the profound connection we built. As we explored the streets, we shared stories about our creative journeys. We heard tales of artistic pursuits, entrepreneurial dreams, and the unique paths that led us to this pivotal moment. These candid conversations were a treasure trove of inspiration, proving that Self Discovery is a beautifully intertwined journey.
By sharing our vulnerabilities and passions, we created a safe space for each other to embrace our creative sides. One that inspired both Kat and I to broaden this event to a series of meet-ups that encourage creative expression and connection (more to come soon).

Both Kat and I left that day feeling invigorated.
