Getting myself on YouTube has been over 10 years in the making. People have been telling me to get my a** on YouTube since my early teenage days. But, I always had an excuse why it wasn't the right time. It felt like such a commitment. I couldn't officially make the decision to grow an audience on Youtube until I had proven to myself that I had what it takes.

Imagine a world where everyone treats you as "Little Miss Perfect". Born pretty, polite, and gifted, the world treats you as if you could do no wrong. Placed on a pedestal, you're taught to look down on everyone that could never amount to all that you are.

I've always been notoriously known for having a bunch of guy friends. Often times, this gained me the reputation of:

• seeking for attention

• being a flirt or a tease

• not valuing myself

• not being a girls' girl

Journalist and activist, Mona Eltahawy, courageously defies our foundations of society in this manifesto against the patriarchy. She challenges her readers to imagine what the world would have been like if girls were raised to embrace the same qualities that are encouraged in boys. Eltahawy demands that the responsibility to deconstruct the patriarchy and build a safer world for our women and girls falls upon us.

Growing up, I didn't believe in sex before marriage. It was taught to me that this wasn't something that "good girls" do, and I considered myself a good girl. Once I reached high school, my opinions on sex started to change. I suddenly wanted the world to see me as sexy and desirable.

Today, I wrote a story about a man nurturing his heartbreak while on a walk with his dog.

Last year, I was possessed by Regina George. She took over my whole body and my mind. She cut my boyfriend of three years loose then drove her ass to Philadelphia to drop herself in the middle of a brand new social scene. She played musical chairs with all the guys. Was "frenemies" with all the girls. And made her grand exit by releasing her own Burn Book for the entire world's entertainment.

I climbed my way out of depression through the help of YouTube videos and content creators. Like many of us from my generation, watching the lives and hearing the stories of people online helped fill my times in solitude. Whenever I feel the most lost and disconnected, I turn to the YouTube search bar for the answers to all of my problems.
